Little Airplane & Jennifer Oxley

This post is geared toward us designers with kids.

When I’m not at work I’m spending time with my wife and our 2 year old son Jackson. Jackson loves to get ready for a nap by watching the children’s network called “Noggin“. If you have a young toddler then you’ll understand how the Noggin Network is truly a saving grace when it comes to parenting. Jackson currently loves the show “The Wonder Pet’s“, which is a super clever and witty children’s program consisting of “photo-puppetry animation”. I’m really a big fan of this style and could definitely see myself doing such work. Anyhow, I’d decided to peek around to see whom it can be credited to.

I was led to find a small studio doing enormous things; Little Airplane (make sure you check out their video).

Little Airplane employees roughly 77 people and has an office in New York’s historic South Street Seaport and a new UK office in the Butler’s Wharf district of London. The office and vibe looks amazing! They also offer studio tours for kids! I would totally take Jackson there!

Little Airplane’s Creative Director Jennifer Oxley has worked in the film and television industry for the past ten years as a Director and Animator. If you watch kids’ TV, you’ve surely seen her work. Jennifer is the recipient of an Emmy Award and a Humanitas Prize for her role as Director on Nick Jr.’s “Little Bill.” Jennifer has directed eight short films for “Sesame Street,” as well as the award-winning adaptation of Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee’s children’s book, “Please, Baby, Please” for Nick Jr. Her films have been featured at festivals such as the Annecy International Animation Festival and the Ottawa International Animation Festival. At Little Airplane, Jennifer has directed “The Wonder Pets!” for Nick Jr. and “Go, Baby!” for Playhouse Disney. She also served as the Creative Director for “Piper O’Possum” and “Go, Baby!” She is currently the Creative Director of “The Wonder Pets!” and “3rd and Bird”.
